There could be a number of reasons for this from advancements in technology to people taking better care of themselves. Whatever the case may be, living longer is now more common than ever.

Prioritize sleep
By making this a priority you are helping to build a strong immune system. Sleep is also important for your heart health and preventing cardiovascular disease. If you go long periods of time sleep deprived you can put yourself at risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, and/or heart failure. In addition, studies have revealed that lack of sleep can lead to depression, lower sex drive, and premature aging. In short, get your zzz’s!
Challenge your mind
This helps to prevent cognitive decline as you age as well as reducing the risk of dementia. Some ways to support cognitive fitness include:
- Playing cards
- Doing crossword puzzles
- Learning or teaching a new skill
- Listening to music
These are all great habits you can easily start incorporating daily.
Don’t neglect your senses
Try to involve all your senses when learning something, this will help to incorporate more parts of your brain. Grab a pair of binoculars and go sightseeing or grab a magnifying glass for your next nature hike. Using your eyes differently is a simple way to challenge them. - Close your eyes and listen to the birds in the park.
- Attend food and drink festival to awaken your taste buds.

Movement is Key
There are so many benefits to movement including aging in a healthier manner. Researchers have found that including aerobic exercise can reverse aging effects. Regular exercise can help:

- Improves sleep
- Deter anxiety and/or depression

- Walking
- Swimming
- Dancing
